Mattress domino world record shattered

Eight hundred and fifty fluro-clad Americans have set a new world record for the longest human mattress domino chain.

Hundreds of mattresses were meticulously aligned in a bid to beat the previous record set by 550 people in Kortemark, Belgium last year, according to Guinness World Records.

It took several minutes for participants to topple their way into the record books on Tuesday 28 February.

A Guinness representative was on-site to judge the event and present the World Record certificate.

The stunt was held inside a massive convention centre in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was organised by a hotel chain.

Each of the 850 'dominoes' were employees of the hotel firm, while the mattresses were provided by a bedding company, and later donated to local charities.

The record for the longest human domino line, without mattresses, was recorded at the Ordos International Nadam Fair in China, and included a whopping 10,267 people.
