Facial surgery for Lions captain

Brisbane captain Jonathan Brown will undergo surgery for multiple facial factures following an incident during the Lions' loss to Fremantle last Saturday.

Brown collided with the knee of Dockers defender Luke McPharlin while taking a mark and was knocked out by the blow.

He stumbled off the ground with the aid of trainers and was taken to hospital. After a consultation with medical staff today it was determined Brown required immediate surgery.

The key forward could be sidelined for up to six weeks.
