Liverpool legend Souness: Man Utd boss Ferguson plans to sell Rooney

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness believes Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is thinking of selling Wayne Rooney in the summer.

Souness accused United striker Rooney of being past his best.

He said: "In the back of Fergie's mind, he'll be thinking, 'I might just cash in on him in the summer', because Rooney's been average and that's being kind to him.

"At the World Cup everything bounced off him and that has continued."
