Girl reveals rape on morning radio

A 14-year-old girl has been dragged on to a Sydney radio program and angrily revealed she had been raped.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported 2Day FM's Kyle and Jackie O were running their 'Lie Detector' segment when a woman called the show.

The woman told presenters she was worried about her daughter's use of drugs and partying.

"I'm scared, it's not fair," the girl said before host Kyle Sandilands asked his questions.

The mother asked the daughter if she'd ever had sex before.

"I've already told you the story about this," she told her mother.

"Don't look at me and smile because it's not funny."

After a pause she raised her voice and said "oh okay... i got raped when i was 12 years old."

Sandilands asked the girl if that was the only experience she'd ever had.

At that moment the girl's mother interrupted and said she'd only found out about a month ago.

"All due care and consideration was given to the family and clearly we didn’t know anything about the incident," said 2DayFM General Manger Jenny Parkes in a statement.

"The moment we became aware of it was live on air and we shut it down as soon as we possibly could."

"As is only appropriate, we are offering all the assistance we can to the family, including counselling, in what is of course an extraordinarily difficult situation."
