WA men allegedly caught trying to import child sex dolls

Two WA men have allegedly been caught trying to import life-like child sex dolls into Australia.

It’s alleged the made-to-order dolls, which feature anatomically correct genitals, were intercepted at a mail-sorting centre on arrival in Australia from Asia.

Staff at the centre then alerted WA Police and the dolls seized.

An Australian Border Force spokesperson said the dolls, which can be ordered to represent a child of any age, ethnicity and gender, were classified as “objectionable goods”.

“Objectionable goods includes material that describes, depicts, expresses or otherwise deals with matters of sex, drug misuse or addiction, crime, cruelty, violence or revolting or abhorrent phenomena in a way that would offend a reasonable adult,” a border force spokeswoman told SevenWest Media.

“This includes dolls manufactured for a sexual purpose that depict a child under the age of 18 years.”

It’s alleged the dolls were ordered from Japanese-based company Trottla, which manufacturers the dolls in a bid to stop pedophiles abusing children.

Trottla boss Shin Takagi has previously told international media the dolls help pedophiles “express their desires legally”.

Twenty-three child sex dolls have been seized in Australia since 2013.

Anyone caught importing the dolls could face up to 10 years’ jail or a $45,000 fine under the Customs Act.

The two WA men are yet to be charged and investigations are ongoing.
