Second body found after woman stabbed to death

A 63-year-old man, wanted over for questioning after a woman was fatally stabbed in Melbourne, has been found dead.

The St Albans man's body was found on Thursday afternoon, hours after a 50-year-old woman was found with life-threatening wounds at a St Albans unit block.

The woman, who was understood to be visiting her cousin, was treated by paramedics around 12.30am, but tragically died on her way to hospital.

The man was found after police launched a major investigation, with a large number of homicide squad detectives scouring the surrounding area and police searching bushes with torches.

Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the deaths, and will prepare a report for the coroner.

The two have yet to be identified.
