Ex-One Nation member Rod Culleton loses Senate seat

West Australian Senator Rod Culleton looks to have lost his Senate spot after a High Court finding against him in a bankruptcy case.

With Mr Culleton declared bankrupt last month, the President of the Senate has now written to the Governor of Western Australia saying there is a vacancy to be filled.

The WA Government will now determine who will replace him, now that he's an independent.

Mr Culleton has denied being bankrupt despite the court ruling and has pledged to appeal the decision that led to his seat being declared vacant.
