Woman 'hit with cash register' during terrifying armed robbery

A woman has been injured during an armed hold up at the same Perth deli where police shot dead a man who took a worker hostage in 2014.

The armed robber entered the Lunch Club deli in Carlisle on Monday afternoon, where it’s believed he hit a female staff member in the head with a cash register.

The man then fled the scene on foot along Harris Street.

The robbery comes more than two years after drug addict Brendan John Lindsay stormed the deli in November 2014, before taking worker Sheila Tran hostage.

Lindsay held a knife to a terrified Ms Tran’s throat as her dragged her out into the street and later stabbed her in the back as police circled.

Lindsay was shot dead by officers while Ms Tran was also accidentally shot by police.

Just last week it was revealed Ms Tran is suing Lindsay’s estate in a bid to get compensation for the permanent injuries she suffered during the incident.

Ms Tran told Seven News she is still in constant pain and cannot work given the injuries she sustained.

After Monday’s attack, forensic police have dusted for prints in an effort to catch the latest armed robber.

It’s believed a female worker was out the back of the store when she heard screaming and shouting, and confronted the man.

That injured worker, a 39-year-old woman, was set to be discharged from hospital on Monday night.

Police are trying to find the robber who is described as having dark skin and was wearing dark shorts.

He left the deli shirtless.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
