Spedding a no-show in Victorian court

A man questioned over the disappearance of three-year-old William Tyrrell did not appear in a Victorian court on Thursday to face child sex charges.

Bill Spedding has been charged with a number of offences in Victoria, including the indecent assault of a child in the 1980s.

The 65-year-old did not appear in the Ballarat Magistrates Court, instead choosing to send his lawyer on his behalf.

The white-goods repair man has denied any wrongdoing.

His lawyer spoke briefly to waiting media as he left the courthouse, saying his focus was on an upcoming trial.

Mr Spedding will appear in the Ballarat Magistrates Court again in October.
