'Quick-thinking driver': Carjacking victim held at knifepoint on Gold Coast

A 22-year-old woman turned the tables on a knife-wielding carjacker by driving her car into the side of a police station at high speed.

At around 10am the woman was returning to her vehicle which was parked inside the shopping centre car park at Robina Town Centre when a man jumped into the passenger side of her vehicle.

The attacker demanded she drive him to Southport and threatened her with a knife when she refused.

The 22-year-old then proceeded to drive off the M1 at speed until she crashed into a retaining wall of the Mudgeeraba Police Station.

The quick-thinking driver then grabbed her keys and ran inside the station to safety.

The man fled the vehicle on foot and was located a short time later by police hiding under a vehicle in nearby Meteor Court at Mudgeeraba.

Police located a knife in Milky Way, Mudgeeraba.

The woman was not physically injured during the incident.

A 30-year-old man has since been arrested over the alleged attack.
