11-year-old boy steals cement truck, leads police on wild goose chase

An 11-year-old US boy is in custody after stealing a cement truck and leading officers on a high-speed chase that lasted for an hour.

Dodge Country Sheriff’s Office said the chase started at about 3pm on Sunday in the city of Dodge Center, Minnesota, and reached speeds of more than 110kmh.

Like the scene out of an action blockbuster, the getaway truck was followed by a State Patrol helicopter and a squad of police vehicles.

Two cop cars were damaged in the dramatic pursuit when the suspect allegedly rammed them during the chase.

A witness recorded the blue and white cement truck as it sped down a suburban street, appearing to drive past on two occasions.

In one of the clips, a police vehicle is following closely behind the truck as it take a sharp turn.

Kasson Police Officer Gary Scofield told the Associated Press that the underage driver who evaded police was captured when he drove down a dead-end street.
