CD glasses: Is this strange craze the first trend of 2016?

If this is the first trend for 2016, we are off to a strange and slightly dorky, but weirdly entertaining, start.

'CD glasses' have become the first viral trend of 2016, with hundreds of social media users posting photos and videos of themselves engaging in the bizarre new craze.

Although the origins of the 'flick' are unknown, we have no doubt it was invented by someone with a lot of time on their hands.

The trick involves sliding a CD on each arm of a pair of glasses.

When the glasses are worn, the CDs lay flat on either side of one's ears like great metallic earmuffs until the wearer jolts their head forward.

The CDs then pop out to look like two massive eyes behind the glasses.

People have taken to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to share their attempt at the fad, with some adding music effects and flicking the CDs as the beat drops.
