Footage of man attacking dog goes viral as RSPCA search for abuser

A man has been filmed in the UK repeatedly punching a dog at a street corner in the early afternoon.

A bystander filmed the attack last Thursday on what is believed to be an American bulldog.

The RSPCA then put the video on Facebook.

It was hoped the footage taken in Nelson, a town in Lancashire, would be shared and information forthcoming about the attacker.

In just a few days, it has been shared almost 13,000 times.

The man is seen first punching the dog in the middle of the road, then dragging it to a footpath where he continued to batter the animal.

RSPCA inspector Charlotte Booker said: “We hope that the images of [the man in the video] and the dog - a large white bull breed, we think probably an American bulldog - along with the location & time this happened will mean that those who know him will recognise him, and call us".

Hundreds of people commented on the post, furious at the man’s treatment of the dog and hopeful that he has been caught.
