High-speed collision with cows caught on dashcam

Dashcam footage showing the moment a motorist collided with a herd of cattle has been released as part of a cautionary tale.

The warning, it appears, is directed at farmers, police and fellow drivers.

The video shows a car travelling down the New England Highway between Toowoomba and Warwick at night, when an oncoming vehicle flashes its high-beams.

This, the driver explains, distracted him and left him completely unprepared for what he met next: a herd of cows in the middle of the road.

The car smashes violently into them.

It was unclear if or to what extent the cows were injured in the incident on October 30, the Toowoomba Chronicle reported, but the car was a write-off.

“The first thing police told me,” the driver notes, “was that I had failed to give way to livestock”.

“Doesn’t help that the gate was left open” he retorts.
