Two Sydney high schools reportedly in lockdown

Students from two high schools in Sydney's southwest are in "lock-out" after threats were made against them on social media.

Police were dispatched to East Hills Boys High School in Panania and Sir Joseph Banks High School in Revesby.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said police were sent to the schools as a precaution and Police Minister Tony Grant's office was informed of the situation.

“NSW Police have been made aware of threatening information on social media,” the spokeswoman told News Corp reports.

“As a precaution officers from Bankstown LAC are at high schools in Revesby and East Hills conducting inquiries.

“Police will investigate the situation and police are reminding members of the public that it is an offence to post threatening or violence-inciting messages on social media sites. “

The minister's office confirmed the schools were in "lock-out", meaning people could leave the schools but no one was allowed to enter.

Last year 7 News revealed police were investigating possible terror links at East Hills Boys, with federal police keeping the school under surveillance for several months.

In June 2014 several students refused to sing the national anthem and there pro-ISIS graffiti sprayed on one of the school's outside walls.

"ISIS R coming," one message read, while another said, "ISIS beheads."
