Rainbows brighten social media in surge of support
If you’ve looked at your Facebook feed recently, you’ve probably noticed it’s exceptionally colourful.
The online world has been abuzz since a historic vote in the United States Supreme Court to legalise same-sex marriage in all 50 American states.
Thousands of Facebook users have superimposed rainbows over their profile pictures to show their support for gay marriage.
The hashtag #LoveWins has also taken off on Twitter.
US President Barack Obama led the celebrations on Friday, tweeting news of the decision.
Today is a big step in our march toward equality. Gay and lesbian couples now have the right to marry, just like anyone else. #LoveWins

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg used his official page to mark the occasion.
"Our country was founded on the promise that all people are created equal, and today we took another step towards achieving that promise," he wrote.
"I'm so happy for all of my friends and everyone in our community who can finally celebrate their love and be recognized as equal couples under the law."

Many Australian politicians also jumped on the bandwagon, calling on the Federal Government to legalise same-sex marriage at home.
The topic is expected to be back on the parliamentary agenda when it resumes after the winter break, but the prime minister says his views on the matter are unchanged.
A joyous day in America. Let us make it a call to action in Australia. It's time to make #MarriageEquality a reality http://t.co/8N4SBLAZWa
