Casey Dellacqua knocked out of Hobart International by Karin Knapp

Casey Dellacqua has been knocked out of the Hobart International, losing to Italian Karin Knapp 7-5, 2-6, 6-3.

Dellacqua, the top seed in Hobart, dropped a tight first set but looked strong in taking the second 6-2.

But world number 51 Knapp ultimately took the deciding set in a match that lasted over two hours, with little to no statistical difference separating the pair.

Knapp will have little time to enjoy the victory, with all the quarter-finals to be played this afternoon due to rain delays.

She will face American qualifier Madison Brengle, who reached the last eight with a 6-1, 7-6 (10-8) win over Kateryna Kozlova earlier in the day.

Kazakhstan's Zarina Diyas is now the top seed after she beat Daniela Hantuchova 7-5, 6-1, and will play Alison Riske, who took down Bojana Jovanovski 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, for a spot in the semi-finals.

Third seed Camila Giorgi had an easy path into the quarter-finals, taking a walkover this morning after Kaia Kanepi withdraw from their scheduled clash.

She next plays Kurumi Nara.

The other quarter-final is between Italian Roberta Vinci and Great Britain's Heather Watson.
