Brisbane man faces court on murder charge

A man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with murdering a Brisbane man more than six months ago.

Russell Johnstone, 24, was found lying in Jarrow Street, Tingalpa, with gunshot wounds to his head and chest in the early hours of February 6 this year.

He died in hospital several days later.

On Wednesday, Dallin James Kruithof, 24, appeared in the Cleveland Magistrates Court charged with his murder.

A court official said the Brisbane man was remanded in custody and his case was adjourned until December 1.

Earlier Detective Inspector Owen Elloy told media he would not detail the relationship between Kruithof and the alleged victim.

"(That's) a good question, and certainly one I'm not prepared to answer," he told reporters in Cleveland.

Det Insp Elloy said the investigation into the shooting had been the most exhaustive he'd seen in 35 years with the police service.

"Without doubt, this is the most intense," he said.
