Four in running for Baillieu's Vic seat

A Women's Weekly journalist is in the running to replace former Victorian premier Ted Baillieu in the seat of Hawthorn.

Sue Smethurst, a senior journalist at The Australian Women's Weekly, is one of four nominations for the traditionally safe Liberal seat, which Mr Baillieu will vacate at the November 29 election.

Also running is John Roskam, executive director of libertarian think tank the Institute of Public Affairs, and Premier Denis Napthine's lawyer John Pesutto.

Ralph Krein, an electorate officer for Burwood MP Graham Watt, rounds out the four-horse race.

The Liberal Party will decide the preselection on Thursday night.
