Man killed in Sydney shooting

A Sydney street where a man was fatally shot, has been closed off to the public as crime scene specialists and homicide detectives investigate.

The man was gunned down about 5.40pm on Monday on Lords Rd at Leichhardt, near the busy MarketPlace shopping centre.

It is understood he was shot a number of times.

Paramedics tried to revive the man, believed to be aged in his late 20s or early 30s, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators had set up a crime scene and police said several hours after the murder that Lords Rd would remain closed late into the evening.

The public were urged to avoid the area.

Nobody has been arrested.
