Navy ship damaged by fire in Brisbane

A navy ship has been extensively damaged by fire in Brisbane.

The blaze engulfed HMAS Bundaberg, which was dry docked in a boat shed at Hemmant in Brisbane's east, on Monday.

Firefighters were alerted to the blaze just before noon.

About 50 of them were deployed and it took more than three hours to bring the fire under control, a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said.

At least two civilian contractors were treated for smoke inhalation but no navy crew were injured.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
