Two charged over Vic attempted murder

Two men have been charged with attempted murder over an incident in Melbourne two months ago.

Caroline Springs man Luke Spiteri, 23, and Bekim Muhtari, 29, of Hillside, have each been charged with attempted murder over the incident in Malvern on May 7.

Both fronted the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.

Spiteri was remanded in custody, while Muhtari remains in custody until bail conditions are met.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Belinda Batty said she was unable to provide further details on the Malvern incident because it was now a court matter.

She said the men were also questioned over the death of a man during a suspected home invasion in Deer Park on Australia Day, but were released.

Michael Sleiman, 20, died after 15 people allegedly stormed a Deer Park house in the city's west on January 26 and started a fight.

Four men have already been charged with his murder and are due back in court in November.
