Pregnant P-plater crashes into house

A pregnant P-plater has escaped without a scratch after ploughing into the house next-door.

The Gold Coast neighbours didn't know each other before a people mover came crashing through a bedroom window.

The spare room of the Arundel home was freshly made for a visitor but this driver’s car burst through bricks and blinds around 10 on Friday morning.

Fences went flying, walls collapsed and Sandra Leeson's bathroom is badly damaged. She's relieved her two dogs were in another room.

"I was at the shops, yeah just go and have a look at the mess ... we’re fine, that's the main thing,” she said.

"I wasn't home when it happened. I don't know who owns the car.

"I'm okay and they're okay and that's all that matters."

It was a neighbour she hadn't met, a 35-year-old who's six months pregnant.

"I ran over there screaming and I couldn't get her out, so she climbed out the back and then I'm just screaming to phone the ambulance," a neighbour said.

"I grabbed my phone, came out, checked that everybody was okay and we sat her down and just kept her calm under instructions from the ambulance."

Paramedics treated the woman for shock. She only purchased the people mover a few weeks ago. She needed a bigger car for the family - she's expecting her third child.

If good fences make good neighbours, Ms Leeson will need to build a new one.
