SA school rocked by another scandal

A school in South Australia’s South East has been rocked by another scandal - this time with a teacher accused of sending lewd photos to students.

Last week a former student of the school blew the whistle after he was paid hush money as compensation for being falsely accused of accessing pornography.

In a separate case, a letter was sent home to parents 12 weeks ago alerting them that a teacher has been charged with trying to lure students into becoming open to sexual activity.

It was sent eight days after his arrest.

It is believed the five charges relate to him allegedly taking photos of his genitals and forwarding the images to male students.

The teacher has been stood down without pay.

In this instance, the Education Minister said the notification system worked in line with the Debelle inquiry recommendations.

But the Opposition said the school should have gone further and called a meeting of concerned parents to name the teacher privately.

The accused teacher is on bail and will face court in December.
