New pictures of horrific shop explosion

FIRST ON 7: There is new video of the horrific explosion that levelled a shop at Wentworthville in Sydney's west.

Watching it today, the hero police officers who pulled a man from the inferno, say it was like being in a movie.

The blast that rocked Wentworthville on Tuesday trapped the alleged arsonist, and injured the police officers who tried to save him.

"[He was] calling out, help me, come and get me, it was quite confronting," Constable Rabbi Haddad said.

"The last thing you want to do is see someone die in front of you."

Many in short sleeves, officers worked as a team, trying to face the flames and get Chadi Jomaa out, but it was just too hot.

Firefighter Scott Haywood and his crew put on the specialised equipment that allowed them to withstand the intense heat. One by one, they pulled off bricks.

"I tried to grab his pants, couldn't get hold of his pants, dragged him out, and then there was another hoseline there, and then we started fire protection from that point," Haywood said.

Emergency crews watched the footage for the first time today, but they hardly needed a reminder of that confronting scene.

"That was just sensory overload, so much stuff going on at the one time, so many noises people screaming," Scott Haywood

The officers suffered smoke inhalation, and one has first degree burns.

The burns will take time to heal, and the blast is still being felt here in Wentworthville where there is rubble all over station street which will take days to clean up.

The man accused of sparking the explosion is in hospital, and could go to jail.
