Stolen truck crashes into couple's bedroom

A Wallan couple got a rude awakening when an out-of-control tow truck slammed into their home as they slept in the early hours of this morning.

Police say the truck, carrying a forklift, was stolen and driven two blocks before the thief lost control.

The vehicle slammed into the property on the corner of King Street and Stanley Street at around 3am.

Peter Colloti said he and his wife woke up when the truck came crashing through their bedroom wall.

When he looked up the vehicle was sitting within a few metres of the couple's bed.

"I woke up and heard a truck driving up the road. Then I thought it's getting closer and closer," Mr Colloti said.

"I thought something's going to happen here and then before you know it, it came through the house.

"I sleep on the right hand side of the bed, so it's lucky it didn't hit me."
