Police baffled by stabbing attack

Police are baffled by a stabbing attack in a suburban Adelaide street this morning that has left a 24-year-old man fighting for life.

It is believed the Morphettville man was set upon while walking along Ashford Rd with his brother at about 1.45am.

Police said the pair became separated and the brother found the victim after the attack.

“So he was not present when this incident occurred and has been unable to assist us in how it unfolded,” chief inspector Trevor Lovegrove said.

He was slumped on the footpath suffering wounds to his chest and arm.

Police are yet to find the weapon in what Chief Insp Lovegrove described as a ‘shocking crime’.

Officer door-knocked the area, and while some residents said they heard an overnight dispute, they only realised the full extent of the brutal attack when they awoke to the crime scene.

“There was a bit of blood spatter on the garage,” one resident said.

7News has been told there is often drug activity nearby, and the scene is close to the home of a notorious bikie, but police said there is no connection.
