Extradition win in Good Samaritan murder

One of three men who fled overseas after a Good Samaritan was brutally stabbed to death in Brunswick more than four years ago has given up his fight against extradition and will be returned to Melbourne, 7News can reveal.

One of the suspects allegedly involved in the 2009 stabbing murder of Luke Mitchell will be extradited to face a Victorian Court after a lengthy appeal process in Bangkok.

The 29-year-old chef, of Sanctuary Lakes, was repeatedly stabbed and kicked outside a convenience store in Sydney Road, Brunswick, minutes after breaking up a fight in May 2009.

He was stabbed five times and later died in hospital.

The three men wanted over the killing fled Australia literally hours after the deadly attack.

One of the men was arrested in September 2010 and is still fighting extradition.

A third man allegedly linked to the attack is still on the run.

Victoria Police will begin the process of taking the suspect into custody from late August.
