Convicted kidnapper, dubbed 'flesh eater', found dead in prison cell

A Victorian prisoner known as the 'flesh eater' has reportedly been found dead in his cell.

Mark Imbrogno, 42, was found dead in his Port Phillip Prison cell on Monday, News Ltd reports.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

During a county court trial, a jury heard Imbrogno had been dubbed the 'flesh eater' because he drilled peoples' bodies.

A spokesman for Corrections Victoria confirmed a 42-year-old prisoner died from what appeared to be natural causes in his Port Phillip Prison cell on Monday afternoon.

He said the death was not being treated as suspicious and the matter has been now been referred to the coroner, News Ltd reports.

Imbrogno was ordered to serve a minimum of three years - less 112 days for the time already spent in custody - in December 2012 for assault, kidnap and extortion threats.
