Mother angry over 'political' crusade

One mother’s crusade to harass the South Australian Premier into full accountability over school sex abuse has deeply angered another.

The woman who blew the whistle on the case that sparked the Debelle inquiry fears the issue is being turned into a circus.

Mary was the first parent to publicly ring alarm bells over the hushed-up western suburbs school rape.

Her actions led to a royal commission and education officials being slammed for spreading misinformation.

Her children are also alleged victims, but she says another parent is turning it into a circus.

“It actually hurts me, because this isn’t about them,” she told 7News.

“This is not how I wanted it to turn out.

“They’re not thinking of the families that are actually victims here, and the children.

“It just seems like a big political stunt.”

She says former school council member Danyse Soester shouldn’t be personally crusading for education heads to roll.

Today, Ms Soester confronted government ministers before cabinet.

It has left Mary fuming.

“Back off and get a life, sorry, you’re not a victim,” Mary said.

There are also divisions over Premier Jay Weatherill’s decision to take a school holiday vacation with his family.

Shadow Education Minister David Pisoni said: “Mr Weatherill has to explain why he is on holidays in Queensland.”
