Man killed in Langhorne Creek crash

South Australia’s horror run on the state’s country roads has continued with the death of a man at Langhorne Creek – the seventh fatality since Friday.

Two cars collided just before 9am when a Holden Astra pulled out into the intersection of Cross and Leslies Rd at Langhorne Creek.

The other vehicle - a Suzuki Vitara - then slammed into a stobie pole, killing its driver, a 63-year-old Happy Valley man.

His female passenger was airlifted to hospital after being cut from the wreckage, while the woman driving the Astra was taken to Strathalbyn hospital.

Police are again begging drivers to pay more attention.

“We’ve been trying to educate people on country roads to be more vigilant and to take more care and we’d like to think that the message is getting through, but unfortunately, the last few days has showed that maybe it’s not,” Brevet Sergeant Wayne Liebich said.

The horror run began on Friday when a woman was killed on Kangaroo Island after her car crashed into a tree.

Another woman was killed on Saturday night when a car crashed into the house she was in at Murray Bridge.

Later Saturday night a man was killed in a crash on Kangaroo Island, then a woman died in a crash on the Yorke Peninsula near Pt Germain on Sunday.

Two people died in a crash between a four-wheel-drive and a truck near Nuriootpa in the Barossa Valley yesterday morning.
