Girlfriend warned crash victim to get out of car

The girlfriend of a teenager killed in a fiery crash north of Brisbane has told how she tried to convince him to get out of the stolen car before it crashed.

Five other occupants survived the horrific accident in the overloaded car, however 15-year-old passenger Lachlan Cain died after ignoring his girlfriend Ebony Nowlan's requests.

Ms Nowlan refused to get in the car with her boyfriend, saying she "had a bad feeling something was going to happen," she told News Limited.

"He came to my house and asked me to get in the car with him and I told him to please get out of the car," she said.

"When I refused to go with him, he got angry. The last time I spoke to him he said he was going to call me back, that was when he was on the highway. He never called me back so I knew something was wrong."

Ms Nowlan said her boyfriend harboured desires of one day becoming a rapper, and that he was a funny person.

"I've spoken to all his friends, they are just devastated. They are sad that he had to go at such a young age," she said.

"Apparently, according to my mate, she tried to pull Lachlan out of the car but she had injuries and was too weak.

"Another friend had two broken arms but tried to pull Lachlan out himself too."

The 16-year-old driver of the vehicle has been charged over the accident will remain in custody until at least the end of next month.
