Fire has caused more than $1million damage to trucks at a council depot in Adelaide’s southern suburbs.

Metropolitan Fire Service crews and police were called to a blaze at the Onkaparinga Council compound just before 5am with reports of garbage trucks being on fire.

Fire crews took 20 minutes to extinguish the fire, which started in one of the vehicles and then spread to the other three.

The cause of the blaze is currently unknown.

Each of the trucks is valued at about $350,000, with three of the four trucks completely burnt out.
