Father, Son acquitted over tattoo parlour shooting

A man and his teenage son have been acquitted over a shooting at tattoo parlour on Hindley St in Adelaide, that left another teenager in a wheelchair.

The man, 41, and his son, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, cannot be identified because the son was a juvenile at the time.

Late this afternoon a jury unanimously acquitted them of shooting now 19-year-old Christopher Ilich, who was shot in the neck by a small-calibre handgun bullet on September 30, 2010.

Ilich worked at the tattoo parlour part-time, and the court had previously heard that he had a minor argument with the son.

It was then alleged by the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Adam Kimber, that the father went to the shop with a handgun and shot Ilich.

The jury took two-and-a-half hours to come to deliberate over the evidence presented in the trial, that lasted seven days.
