School 'really behind' new star Reece Mastin

The school of X-Factor winner, Reece Mastin, has celebrated his win today.

Lynette Haines, a teacher at Golden Grove High School said his friends and teachers are all thrilled with the result.

"We’ve witnesses Reece’s highs and lows with him, and we’ve celebrated his success this morning," she told 7News,

"It was crazy, there were so many text messages and we’ve downloaded the song – people are really behind him already."

But she said the school community weren't surprised he won the competition.

"Reece is a lively student, he’s an extremely talented student he can play guitar, piano, drums."

"He can sing, he can write music, he’s an all round performer."

"It’s a fantastic opportunity and we wish him all the success in the world," she said, "We’ll be buying all his albums and one of the kids already has tickets to his show," Ms Haines said.

Coincidentally, Mastin's mentor on X-Factor, Guy Sebastian, was once a vocal teacher at the school.
