Samantha Jade lives Telethon dream

Like many budding Perth performers, Samantha Jade grew up watching Telethon every year, one day hoping to take to the stage and sing in front of her home State to help raise funds for Princess Margaret Hospital.

But despite auditioning for the beloved Seven Perth charity event when she was younger, it wasn't until after winning The X Factor in 2012 that Jade was finally given the chance to sing live on the show when she performed during the opening at last year's event.

"I have always watched Telethon since I was little. I loved it, it was so exciting and to be a part of it for the first time was really fun and almost like a dream come true," Jade told AAA Weekend.

"To perform on Telethon was always the goal when I was younger.

"I auditioned before and didn't quite make the cut but now I am happy that I have."

Jade has flown in from her home base in Sydney for her second Telethon and will perform on TV for the first time since the death of her mother Jacqui Gibbs in June.

"It will be my first show back on TV after such a big year and I am really excited I get to do it in Perth," she said.

Once her Telethon duties wrap up, Jade will begin to prepare for the promo trail for the lead single of her highly anticipated new album, which was put on hold after her sad loss.

The single, due out on November 21 with the album to follow early next year, was recorded in London recently and Jade says she hopes to capture a happy vibe.

"It is probably my favourite single so far," she said. "It is upbeat and a very fun summer song. I just love it."
