A woman accused of trying to kill herself and her three children has been granted home detention bail - pending an appeal by prosecutors - at the Holden Hill Magistrates court today.

It is alleged the 32-year-old woman deliberately drove her car, with her children as passengers, into a tree on Nelson Rd at Ingle Farm in early April.

No one was seriously injured in the crash, but the woman was detained by police straight after the incident.

She was later charged with three counts of attempted murder of her three children.

The children, aged 16, 10 and 2 are now being cared for by relatives.

It has previously been revealed in court that the woman suffers from schizophrenia and had recently been treated at a mental health facility.

Her identity has been suppressed to protect the identities of her children.

The woman will remain in custody until the prosecutor's appeal is heard.
