Obama hits back at Donald Trump

Possible US Presidential candidate Donald Trump isn't laughing after he was made the butt of several jokes at the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington D.C.

The dinner, which is attended by high profile journalists and celebrities from across the US, was the perfect platform for the US President to gain a measure of revenge against Mr Trump, who has launched a vicious campaign against the President.

The President was last week forced to produce his long-form birth certificate after Mr Trump repeatedly questioned Obama's country of birth.

With 'The Donald' in attendance, Mr Obama took to the stage to the sounds of 'Real American', as images of Bald Eagles, American flags and Hulk Hogan played on the screens in the room.

The President opened his speech by saying 'My fellow Americans', to the cheers of the somewhat partisan crowd, before making several jokes at his own expense.

He showed his 'birth video', and took potshots at potential Presidential nominees, before turning his attention to Mr Trump.

The tension in the room clearly rose as Mr Trump sat in stony-faced silence while the President spent several minutes throwing verbal jabs at his political rival.

The President said Mr Trump could now focus on the serious issues, from whether the moon landing actually happened, to "where are Biggie and Tupac?", and what really happened at Roswell.

The President complimented Mr Trump on the tough decisions he has to make on 'Celebrity Apprentice', and showed a rendering of what the White House would look like if Mr Trump ever moved in.

Mr Obama concluded his speech by showing a trailer for his 'new film', (The President's Speech), before making a heartfelt tribute to the victims of recent tornadoes in the country's south.

The event's host, Saturday Night Live writer Seth Meyers, picked up where the President left off, by making several jokes at The Donald's expense.

After making fun of the President's grey hair and low approval ratings, the comedian took aim at Mr Trump, Sarah Palin and the Republican Party.

"Donald Trump owns the Miss USA pageant, which is great for Republicans because it will streamline their search for a Vice President.", he said before unloading another stinging jab at Mr Trump.

"Donald Trump said recently he has a great relationship with the blacks, though unless the blacks are a family of white people, I bet he’s mistaken." Meyer said as the crowd, and the President, laughed along.

Another Meyers joke, "Donald Trump has said he's running for president as a Republican, which is surprising because I thought he was running as a joke." Gained a raucous response from the crowd.

The Donald, however, is not amused.

In an interview with Fox News after the dinner, Mr Trump’s anger was on display.

"Well, I really understood what I was getting into, I didn't know that I'd be virtually the sole focus," he told Fox & Friends, "but I was certainly in a certain way having a good time listening."

The billionaire property developer went on to pan Seth Meyers’ performance, calling him a 'stutterer' and saying "his delivery frankly was not good."

The last laugh goes to the SNL comedian however, whose twenty minute speech has become an online sensation with hundreds of thousands of views in just over a day.
