'He knows he's dying': Seven-year-old's plea to be buried alongside his mum

A terminally ill seven-year-old boy has made one final heart-wrenching plea, to be buried alongside his mother.

Stem cell transplants and several bouts of chemotherapy have failed to rid Filip Kwansy of the leukaemia that impacts his frail body.

With the cancer spreading to his intestines, the Essex native is now in palliative care, while his father is desperately trying to raise about $10,000 to cover the costs of raising his wife’s coffin that has been underground for the last five years.

“He says that I'm his angel that is looking after him here and that his mum will look after him when he is in heaven,” his father, Piotr Kwasny, explained from his son's hospital bed.

“I don't know how well he remembers his mother as he was so young when she passed away, but he has visited her grave when he was well enough to speak to her.

His father added that “losing a child is devastating, but knowing that you are financially unable to fulfill their last wish is heart breaking”.

“Filip wants to be buried with his mother so we will need to organise that locally and re-bury them together. He wants her to look after him. I will only be able to take Filip back to Poland myself."

Meanwhile the 40-year-old widow is battling his own health battles including spina bifida (a gap in his spine), one kidney, diabetes and hypertension (high blood pressure)

"It's heart-breaking for me to watch. He knows that he is dying and that there's nothing they can do for him. He knows that he doesn't have much time left, we both do,” his heartbroken father added.
