Pilots claim 'windows on one side of EgyptAir flight were blown out'

As the first images of the wreckage of the doomed Egypt Air flight became available commercial pilots think the data shows windows on one side were blown out sending the plane hurtling into the Mediterranean.

Investigators say it's too soon to know if the 66 people on board were killed by a technical fault or terrorism.

The desperate search to try to find out how MS804 came to rest in the sea is frantically taking place as funerals for the first victims take place in Egypt.

The first items recovered have been recovered from the doomed flight include foam from a seat, a single shoe, a woman's handbag and a blanket.

Overnight in Paris the families of some of the missing met the French Foreign Minister.

Among the 66 passengers and crew was dual Australian UK citizen and father Richard Osman.

Smoke detectors were triggered on the plane in its final moments.

European security officials have confirmed none of the passengers was on any terror watch lists.

A French navy vessel is also on its way to the search area to help listen for pings from the black boxes.

The batteries in the black boxes stop transmitting after 30 days so investigators are in a race against time.
