She has revealed the events of the night that lead to the photograph, telling the Manchester Evening News that both men lying on the ground were her friends.

The male seen being restrained by police in the right of the image, didn’t get in a whole lot of trouble following the scene.

“He didn’t get arrested, he was fine in the end,” Ms Kirby said.

The second gentleman in the photo has struck a chord with social media users, many of which have used the image of him - lying down, reaching for a beer as his shirt rides up and his pants ride down – in memes and humorous posts.

While he looks calm in the photo, Ms Kirby said the man wasn’t relaxing on the road.

“He wasn’t casually chilling and reaching for his beer! There was a bit of commotion went on and he was knocked over but managed to save his bottle of beer.”

Freelance photographer Joel Goodman took the photo of the street scene in the UK and said he was just ‘in the right place at the right time’.

Manchester police said the image is ‘just a normal night for cops, captured brilliantly’.
