Dashcam captures child being hit by car after running from a driveway

Dashcam footage has captured the moment a child was hit by a car in a suburban street on Tuesday evening.

The video shows the child running from a driveway, straight into the path of an oncoming car.

He raises his hands and braces for the impact with a look of horror as he realises his mistake.

The car beebs its horn but it is already to late and the boy is hit and flung up in the air before landing and tumbling a short distance in front.

Remarkably, he jumps back up and runs to the side of the road, raising his hand in an apologetic manner.

The occupants of the car can be heard drawing sharp breath as they collision happens and then asking the boy, “are you alright”.

The video was posted by Dash Cam Owners Australia on Wednesday, with the following note from the dash cam owner: “please kids don't run out onto the road, this scared the crap out of us, but thankfully he's ok”.

The video has already been shared over 2,000 times, with comments getting hundreds of likes.

One man said the video needs to be shown to the kid’s parents and ‘hopefully they can educate him on the dangers of crossing the road if he hasn’t already learned”.

Another poster pointed out that the video should be shown to “the idiots that do 60-70, overtaking everyone in a school zone”.

This is not the first time such an incident was captured on a dash cam:
