Bystanders band together to save trapped man

A group of Good Samaritans in New York have joined forces to save a pedestrian pinned under the wheel of a car.

The man, who has not been named, was walking across a street in Brookylyn on Friday when he was hit by a car, The Gothamist reports.

Witnesses say he was dragged nearly 500m.

When the driver realised the man was trapped under his car he reportedly stopped, but then fled the scene on foot.

Bystanders tried to chase down the man and then rushed to help the 69-year-old victim.

Seven people, including a 73-year-old, helped free the man.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

This isn't the first time strangers have banded together to pull off an incredible rescue.
