Woman shot by police at Sydney Hungry Jack's

A woman has been shot dead by police at Hungry Jack's at West Hoxton in Sydney's west.

It's understood the shooting took place in the carpark on Cowpasture Road before midday.

The victim, initially thought to be a teen, is believed to have been in her twenties.

Reports claim the female was armed with a butcher's knife and lunged at police.

Initial reports claimed she was tased, before being shot, but it's since been revealed a taser was not used.

7News reporter Chris Reason said capsicum spray was used, before she was shot by a young uniformed officer.

There is a very large police presence and the area has been locked down.
