Dramatic end to high-speed police pursuit
Two people are expected to face attempted murder charges after they allegedly opened fire on police during a high-speed car chase through south-east Queensland.
The men were arrested after driving at speeds of more than 140 km/h from the Sunshine Coast to the NSW border.
The incident began on Thursday morning around 10.30am (AEST) when police went to the house of a man wanted on a return to prison warrant.

It is alleged he fled from officers in a car, running over the foot of a policeman and breaking his ankle.
Authorities say the man, and a second suspect, then hijacked three cars at gunpoint, including one vehicle carrying a small child.
The pair then drove for more than two hours on major roads in south-east Queensland including the Bruce Highway and Pacific Motorway.

They were tracked by two PolAir helicopters as they drove on the wrong side of the road and onto footpaths.
The men were finally stopped with road spikes around 2.30pm (AEST) at Tugan.
It is believed several other people were injured when the pursuit ended.
The men are expected to face Tweed Heads Court tomorrow.
