Pope Francis calls for inter-faith dialogue to end fundamentalism

Ankara (AFP) - Pope Francis on Friday said on his first visit to Turkey that inter-faith dialogue could help end fundamentalism and terror, adding that all believers must be given the same rights.

"Inter-religious and inter-cultural dialogue can make an important contribution... so that there will be an end to all forms of fundamentalism and terrorism," he said after meeting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The pope also said Muslims, Jews and Christians should share the same and equal rights and said the world had a "moral obligation" to help Turkey with its hosting of 1.6 million Syrian refugees.
