Teen robbers charged after dramatic chase

A police helicopter helped catch four teenagers in a stolen car at Tarragindi early Sunday morning.

An 18-year-old man, a 17-year-old and two 16-year-old boys allegedly held up a convenience store on the corner of Gowan and Compton Roads with a sledge hammer and a shovel.

Police said they left with around $300, and stole the shop attendant's car.

Officers caught up with the car at around 1am in Inala, using the Polair Two tracking helicopter.

Police then used tire deflation devices to stop the car on Ipswich road at Tarragindi, where all four males fled on foot.

"Tonight you saw not only aerial specialist and general duties police working together to capture these crooks," Inspector Rob Graham said.
