Guns seized at home near Palmer mansion

A stockpile of guns has been seized from a Gold Coast house near federal MP Clive Palmer's holiday mansion.

A pump-action shotgun, a .22 calibre rifle, a .19 calibre Airsoft pistol and hidden ammunition were found, along with a drug utensil.

Detectives are questioning a 42-year-old man after the Wednesday night raid on the Paradise Point house but are yet to lay charges.

Mr Palmer, who heads the Palmer United Party, held a news conference in the same suburb less than two hours earlier.

The raided home on Excalibur Court is on Sovereign Island within Paradise Point only several blocks away from Mr Palmer's holiday mansion.

A Queensland police spokesman said the man being questioned did not appear to have bikie links.
