WA driver pleads guilty to murdering man

A 24-year-old man has pleaded guilty to murdering a Sudanese refugee by running him down near a bus stop in Perth's outer northern suburbs.

Luke David Taylor struck 29-year-old William Maker in Merriwa in April last year.

Taylor, who has a history of drink driving, previously pleaded not guilty, but on Tuesday, Taylor changed his plea in the West Australian Supreme Court.

The court heard Mr Maker was standing on the road trying to get Taylor to slow down because he was speeding.

But Taylor, who did not have a licence at the time, did not stop and drove away after hitting Mr Maker.
