Early morning heist at Adelaide jewellery store

A jeweller has helplessly watched a live feed of his store being ransacked in a brazen robbery - from more than 1000km away.

The lone thief was caught on camera raiding Casa D’Oro Jewellers on King William Rd in Hyde Park in Adelaide just after 1.30am.

Owner Tony Zollo watched the break-in live on his iPad from Sydney and made the call to police.

“We understood what was happening by an app, basically after a telephone call we were able to observe an offender in the shop who was still in the shop, we were waiting for police to get there,” Mr Zollo said.

The robber initially tried to break through the back before trying his luck through a disused side door.

“The gates weren’t closed and he was able to see an old side door and crash through,” Mr Zollo said.

The heist lasted eight minutes, but the thief took off before police arrived.

It is not the first time the jewellery shop has been robbed.

Around 18 months ago an intruder broke in and set fire to the shop.
